Skillet Lasagna with Herbed Ricotta

This one-pot meal gives you all the traditional flavors of lasagna with a fraction of the work. Using Isernio’s Garlic & Herb Chicken Sausage Meal Starter and fresh, high-quality ingredients means you need very little in the way of extra seasonings so this dish comes together in a flash!

  1. Heat cooking oil over medium-high heat, then brown Isernio’s Garlic & Herb Chicken Sausage Meal Starter, breaking it up into crumbles as it cooks.
  2. When the sausage is cooked, add the crushed tomatoes and chicken broth. Bring everything to a boil and add the lasagna noodles. Stir well so the noodles are mostly submerged.
  3. Turn the heat to low so the liquid is a gentle simmer, then place a lid on the skillet and cook for 15-20 minutes until the noodles are al dente. Stir briefly after ten minutes to ensure the noodles cook evenly.
  4. While the noodles are cooking, prepare your herbed ricotta topping by mixing together the ricotta, garlic salt, basil, and parsley. Set aside.
  5. When the noodles are done, turn off the heat. Stir in the mozzarella cubes and sprinkle the parmesan cheese on top. Replace the lid on the skillet and allow the cheese to melt.
  6. Once the cheese is melted, remove the lid. Place dollops of the herbed ricotta on top of the dish, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve directly out of the skillet.
