Ingredients
- 1 Tb olive oil
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 1/2 Tb chopped fresh oregano
- 3 garlic cloves
- 1 lb Isernio's Ground Chicken
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3/4 cup marinara sauce, divided
- 1/8 tsp kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
- Cooking spray
- 8 slider buns
- 3/4 cup part-skim mozzarella cheese, shredded
- Fresh basil leaves
Instructions
- Heat a medium skillet over medium heat. Add olive oil to pan and swirl to coat. Add onion, oregano and garlic. Cook for about 3 minutes until soft. Place this mixture into a large bowl and cool slightly.
- To the onion mixture add the ground chicken, parmesan cheese, 1/4 cup of the marinara, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper. Mix well. Place bowl into the refrigerator to chill for about 15 minutes.
- Preheat your broiler to high. After about 15 minutes of chilling, form chicken mixture into 8 slider-sized patties (about 1/2 inch thick). Heat a medium nonstick skillet over medium heat and coat with cooking spray. Add patties to skillet and cook, turning once, until cooked through to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F (about 10-12 minutes).
- Arrange the bottom halves of the slider buns on a baking sheet. Place 1 cooked patty on each bun. Top each patty with 1Tb of the remaining marinara and 1 1/2 Tb shredded mozzarella cheese. Broil for about 1 to 1 1/2 minutes, watching closely, until the cheese is melted.
- Remove from oven and top each slider with a fresh basil leaf and top half of bun. Serve immediately.
