Superbowl Sunday, as far as we’re concerned, is all about the food! Of course it’s sure to be a great game, and the halftime show and commercials are always a big draw too, but some delicious eats are what we look forward to the most.
There are so many ways to use sausage in flavorful dishes for game day. And if you’re looking for a way to lighten up your football snacks, try using our fresh chicken sausage in place of pork sausage in your favorite recipe.
Here are some great recipes we recommend:
Italian Chicken Sausage Burger
Making a juicy, flavorful burger is as simple as forming our chicken sausage into a patty and grilling it up! Use our chicken sausage rolls (Italian or Hot Italian) in this recipe and you’ll save 80% of the fat vs. ground beef (4.5g of fat in a 4 oz. serving of our Italian Chicken sausage, vs. 22.5 g. of fat in 80% lean ground beef).

Sausage Meatballs
Meatballs are the perfect appetizer – serve them in a crockpot, or with toothpicks as finger food. Simply roll our fresh chicken sausage into 1” balls and bake on a greased cookie sheet in the oven at 375° for about 12 minutes, until cooked thoroughly, or follow Margaret Isernio’s recipe on our website and simmer in your favorite tomato sauce for even more authentic Italian flavor. Again, you’re going to save a huge amount of fat and calories vs. using ground beef or pork!
Grilled Sausage Skewers with Salsa Verde
Skewers are also a great finger food to serve to a crowd. Use any of our chicken sausage links and skewer with colorful vegetables like bell peppers, red onions, mushrooms and zucchini.
Pasta & Bean Soup with Sausage
Sausage & White Bean Chili
There aren’t many dishes as hearty and satisfying as a big bowl of hot soup or chili. Use our low-calorie, low-fat chicken sausage in this soup or chili, and serve with warm crusty bread or tortilla chips for a fan favorite.
Do you have a favorite game-day recipe of your own? We’d love to hear about it; feel free to share! Happy football-watching!
